Beyond the Price Tag – Episode 6

What Makes Something Worth It?

We often ask, “What is the price?”
But perhaps the more meaningful question is:

“What makes it worth choosing?”
In the previous episodes of Beyond the Price Tag, we have looked at the story behind a product, the difference between price and value, the importance of trust, the details we often miss, and the thought behind our choices.
Now we come to a question that is perhaps the most personal of all:
What makes something truly worth it?

Price is only one part of the picture

Price is easy to see.

It is a number. We can compare it, calculate it and decide whether it fits our budget.
But value is more personal.
Two people can look at the same product and feel differently about its worth.
One person may value the fabric.
Another may value the craftsmanship.
Someone else may care most about comfort or versatility.
There is no single formula for deciding what is “worth it.”

Look beyond what you see

A product may catch our attention because it is beautiful.

But before making a choice, it can be worth looking a little closer.
Ask yourself:
How does the fabric feel?
How well is it made?
What is the finishing like?
Is it comfortable?
Will I actually use or wear it?
Does it suit my needs and lifestyle?
Is the quality appropriate for the price?
These questions help us move from “I like it” to “I understand why I like it.”
And that can lead to a more thoughtful purchase.

Worth is also about experience

Sometimes we understand the value of something only after we start using it.

A saree that feels wonderful to wear.
A stole that becomes a favourite because it works with many outfits.
A handmade product that brings a little beauty into an everyday space.
A well-made piece that continues to give us pleasure long after the excitement of buying it has passed.
These experiences are difficult to put into a price tag.
And yet, they are part of what makes something feel worthwhile.

More expensive doesn’t always mean more valuable

This is important to us at CARE n Creation.

We don’t believe that higher price automatically means better quality.
At the same time, we don’t believe that lower price automatically means poor quality.
Every product has its own story, materials, workmanship and purpose.
The real question is whether the quality, experience and purpose make sense for the price—and for you.

Our little test at CNC

When we select products, we don’t simply ask:

“Can we sell this?”
We ask:
“Would we be happy to recommend this?”
Would we choose it ourselves?
Would we feel comfortable suggesting it to someone we care about?
Does it offer something that we genuinely appreciate?
Our years of working with sellers and suppliers have also taught us that value isn’t always visible immediately. Experience helps us notice things that may otherwise be overlooked.
That experience becomes part of every choice we make for CNC.
So, what makes something worth it?
Perhaps it is not one single thing.
It is the combination of:
Quality + craftsmanship + usefulness + experience + personal connection
And ultimately, what matters to you.
Because thoughtful shopping doesn’t mean always buying the most expensive thing.
It means buying with understanding.
It means knowing what you value—and choosing accordingly.

A final thought
The next time you are tempted to ask only,
“How much does it cost?”
perhaps pause for a moment and ask:
“What am I getting for that price?”
And then go one step further:
“Is that value meaningful to me?”
That is where the real choice begins.

Look. Feel. Understand. Then Choose. 🌿
